Kidney function (eGFR)
Estimate how well your kidneys filter, from the creatinine value on your blood report.
Enter your details to see your result.
What the numbers mean
| Stage | eGFR | Kidney function |
|---|---|---|
| G1 | 90 or more | Normal or high |
| G2 | 60 to 89 | Mildly decreased |
| G3a | 45 to 59 | Mildly to moderately decreased |
| G3b | 30 to 44 | Moderately to severely decreased |
| G4 | 15 to 29 | Severely decreased |
| G5 | Below 15 | Kidney failure |
eGFR is in mL/min/1.73 m², from the CKD-EPI 2021 equation, which doesn’t use race. Kidney disease is diagnosed only when results stay low for 3 months or there is protein in the urine.
When to see a doctor
- Your eGFR is below 60, or lower than it was before.
- You notice protein or blood in your urine, swelling of the feet or around the eyes, or you pass much less urine than usual.
- You have diabetes or high blood pressure: have your kidney function and urine checked every year.
