What is a PET-CT scan?
PET stands for positron emission tomography, and CT for computed tomography. A scan that combines a CT scan with a small dose of a radioactive sugar, which busy cells such as cancer cells take up. It is mainly used to find cancer, see how far it has spread and check how well treatment is working.
